Car stereo is one of the best companions that you can get during your long travel in the car. And in recent times many FM radio stations have come in almost all the cities in the country. So, almost everybody listens to songs in FM radios during their road trips in their car. If your car stereo stops working, it really irritates you a lot. How to Repair a Car Audio System?

There are few tools required for accomplishment of this task. The usage of such tools will reduce the man power required and makes it easy to complete the task. It may include a set of new fuses,a screw driver, a fuse puller.

There is a dash board which surrounds the stereo in the car. It covers all the components and wiring that come into the stereo. To repair the stereo one must remove the dash board first. The dash board is fixed to the car stereo rigidly by use of screws. So in order to remove the dash board first we have to unscrew the connecting screws with the help of a screw driver of a suitable size. The dash board is removed from the stereo and placed aside until the operation gets over.

After removing the screws and pulling out the dash board then the stereo is also pulled out. Next the wiring is removed from the stereo so as to look at the problem inside it without causing any damage to any parts of the wire or the machine parts. In all the stereos there will be a black cable connecting the antenna to the stereo. This is used for radio reception. This wire is also unplugged from the stereo like the other wires.

Next step one must use a fuse puller for removing the fuse wire from the stereo. This is important because it is very delicate and sensitive and might get damaged while performing the operation. These fuse are present in the back side of the stereo.

The damage in the fuse wire can be found in three ways one if the wire running into the fuse wire is broken or if the color of the fuse wire changes to black that is it is burnt and the last way to find the damage is very simple that is the fuse will be melted or blown. If any of the three is noticed then it is mandatory to change the fuse wire.

By doing the above steps, the audio system is generally fixed. In case it does not get proper, there could be a problem in the fuse of the car that connects with the audio system. Using a manual of the car, the fuse box is located. In that, the fuse that connects the radio can be located with the help of the diagram in the manual. After that it is removed by using a set of fuse pullers. The fuse is examined. If there are signs of the fuse being blown out, it is replaced with new fuse.

This article on how to repair a car audio system discusses on two major types of faults that occur with the stereo. There could be a blown out fuse either in the car or in the radio.

A Closer Look At MP3 Players

Posted by David Morris on January 30th, 2010

Set your music free with a new digital audio player, or MP3 player, as they are commonly known. With an MP3 player it is easy to shuffle your songs in any order and you can hold your entire music collection the palm of your hand. But where is your music actually stored?

Older MP3 players use a hard drive to store music files. Hard drives offer amazing amounts of memory for file storage. The iPod Classic has up to 160GB. However, players with hard drives are heavier, and have generally poorer battery life, as the hard drive has moving parts inside it, and requires more power to operate them.

More recently MP3 player manufactures have started using flash memory to replace mini hard drives. There are now very few MP3 players that use hard drives. Instead they have an inbuilt flash memory chip and often have a slot to hold a second flash memory card, thereby increasing the player’s memory.

Flash memory players have several advantages, they can be much smaller and lighter. Flash memory uses much less power than a hard drive, so batteries last longer. The player can also access your files more quickly from flash memory than from a hard drive.

While flash memory is popular, there are some drawbacks. Flash memory has much more limited storage, usually between 8GB to 16GB, when compared to hard drive, especially when compared to the 160GB models from Apple and Archos. It can also be expensive to purchase additional memory cards to add to the player.

Did you know that you use your MP3 player for more than just music. MP3 player now come with color screens. This means you can watch videos and movies, as well as look at pictures. Screen sizes vary, typical small sizes are 1.8 inch while the larger sizes can be 4.3 inch and 5 inch. Interestingly enough, Apple’s Ipod Touch has a relatively modest 3.5″ display. The bigger the screen the more you will enjoy watching movies, and the larger screens are often in 16:9 ratio too.

Sports Headphones Ideal For Jogging And Running

Posted by Freddy McCandless on December 17th, 2009

Most individuals tend to work out or play sports while listening to music and sports headphones are specifically designed for this. Sports or jogging headphones are designed to withstand the rigors of a high energy workout and be reliable and comfortable. They should stay in place despite your constant movement and should deliver acceptable sound quality.

Everyone’s music preferences vary and most will listen using their own mp3 player or iPod. But the headphones that come with your music player are not the best for listening during physical activity and you should invest in a good pair of sports headphones. The most important parts of the sports headphones are the sound quality, if they are sweat proof and a good fit.

Nike Aero Sport headphones are sports headphones that are very easy to clean, sweat proof and will stay put no matter what sport or activity you are doing. The only concern is that the sound quality is not the best and for very long usage they can become a bit uncomfortable. The cord is placed to stay out of the way no matter what you are doing and these are a decent but inexpensive pair of headphones.

Joggers or runners might appreciate the Sennheiser MX85 sport headphones. Designed especially for constant motion while delivering good sound quality, the Sennheiser is adjustable to fit most people. Those with smaller ears will find these to be more comfortable than most other brands.

An affordable pair of sport headphones is the Sony MDR-AS50G. The price is very reasonable and the headphones produce good quality sound. The cable is well placed behind the neck though these sport headphones can stick out from your head and not be concealed by your hair. These headphones fit so well that you do not need the band to loop over the ears for the headphones to stay in place and they are very comfortable to wear.

A decent sport headphones is the Jaybird JB-100 blue tooth stereo headphones. These Bluetooth headphones rarely ever drop out. They have over the ear mounts and are an in ear, ear bud design. Unfortunately these headphones can be pricey and they don’t have the best volume control. The bass response is also limited and the fit can be difficult depending on the person. These headphones can be adapted to be used for iPod and other mp3 players.

A well designed sport headphones is available from Arriva. The cord wraps around the head and stays out of the way while the ear buds stay in place. The ear buds are quite comfortable and the sound quality is good but if you want superior sound quality then you should try some of their higher models as the sound quality is just okay in the lower price ranges.

Lightweight Headphones - Best Headphones For Long Working Hours

Posted by Freddy McCandless on December 12th, 2009

For most people who are interested in getting the best and highest sound quality out of their headphones, finding lightweight headphones can present a challenge. As little as a decade ago, headphones that were of good sound quality could be relatively heavy and sometimes even cumbersome. This is no longer the case.

Technological improvement along with increased material quality have combined to make it possible to deliver very light, very durable headphone units. Remember, the types of headphones under discussion aren’t of the kind that many a flight attendant has passed out to passengers on a plane. No, the kinds that are most interesting are the ones that can create extremely good sound. All come from several well-known makers.

So; what should a person be looking for in headphones, when weight and sound are a consideration along with avoiding the need to spend an arm and a leg to get it? Generally, the answer can be found on the Internet, though there are several general principles to keep in mind when looking for technology in a lightweight headphone package that could be bought by a customer.

What might come as a surprise to some people is that the lightest headphones are sometimes those which use wires to transport sound from the audio device to the headphones. The reason this is so is that certain wireless headset devices have one to several batteries in them, which can add bulk and weight. Wired headphones don’t suffer from this problem.

As is the case when it comes to electronic equipment that needs to be relatively light, the costlier or more expensive units generally are also the lightest. That additional cost has been used to create headphones that use lighter but stronger and more durable materials and also added expensive technologies that create good sound and lighter weight.

The lightest of lightweight headphones, though, are usually very cheap and do not deliver on promised sound quality. So, try to find a set of headphones that deliver good sound with low weight at a decent price. If sound quality is of ultimate importance expect to pay a good price to achieve such quality. For the true audio enthusiast or expert, this will hardly be a consideration at all.

At the end of the day, personal preference will drive what will and will not be acceptable as far as lightweight headphones. So take a bit of time to learn exactly what it is that’s needed and for what purpose. Then shop intelligently and find the kind of headset that works best for a given circumstance. Generally, though, good sound quality will not normally cost an arm and a leg.

Many people need lightweight headphones for sports like jogging, gym workouts and other physical activities.

Plasma Or Projection TV’s

Posted by Tim Gorman on December 4th, 2009

When you are setting up your home theater you need to decide on what is the best way for you to watch. Many people would not have anything other than a projector as it adds to the cinema theme as well as giving you a very good image as big as you want. But many others do not want to deal with projectors and screens and would rather have the convenience of a TV style screen that you just turn on and play the DVD in as you would in any other room but on a bigger screen.

If you are using a projector then it is a good idea to make sure that your room has good thick curtains so that you can block the light from the room. As the image is produced through a projected light then it is best to use a projector in a fairly dark room. With some of the latest projectors they have a light sensor so that if the light is too bright for the image then it brightens the light to make it stronger. You also have to set up a projector for the movie and put up the screen. But it does give you a really good sense of being at the cinema as well as a really good, large picture that is very high quality.

There are some really good plasma screens around now and the cost is dropping. But you still get the sense that you are watching TV. Although if you put it on the wall then it is a lot more like a real screen. Plasmas have an advantage over projectors if you have a small room, as they did not need any space to project an image.

Although plasma TV does not have the same movie theater aspect to it as a projector does it is very easy to use and does give you a very good image.

If you want ease of use and a great quality picture and are happy either to have a smaller screen, or you are able to pay for a very big one, then plasma might be best for you. But a projector can give you a really good quality image that is as big as you want and there are some very good projectors that are very cheap. But you also have to set up the screen as well as the projector whenever you want to see a movie. But whatever you choose it is always worth trying it out in the store so that you can see which is the best for you.

What are projector lumens and why should I care

Choosing Wireless TV Headphones

Posted by Willy Head on September 7th, 2009

I think it’s obvious why people would want wireless TV headphones. Who wants to be attached to their television with wires? The choice of wireless of wired always seems to involve a little sacrifice in audio quality, though if you’re not particularly picky, then you may not even hear a difference between wired and wireless headphones.

Convenience Of Wireless Headphones For TV

If you’re not abnormally sensitive to sound quality, as not an audiophile, then you will probably be fine with wireless headphones. If you’ve ever experienced an upgraded car stereo system, did it just sound louder with deeper bass, or did it feel like a whole new world of sound was opened up to you? If you answered with the former, then you’ll definitely notice no audible difference going wireless over wires, although you will notice the convenience of having no wires. If one person is, say, working on some articles on his computer, and another wants to watch TV in that same room, the person working may not appreciate the distraction. Wireless TV headphones are just the solution in this case.

To Some, A Wireless TV Headphone Set May Help Increase Audio Quality

Another thing to consider with wireless headphones is sound optimization. The manufacturer of your TV did not intend only one person to be listening. Instead, he had to design the speakers so that everyone in the room could enjoy the sound equally. While an admirable goal, if there’s only one person watching TV, the sound could be much better optimized. Wireless TV headphones do just that, and although there may be some distortion, the optimization just might be more prevalent.

The Different Types Of Wireless TV Headphones

There are really two, but sort of three different types of wireless headphones. There’s infrared, RF (radio frequency), and Bluetooth. Bluetooth is actually RF on a very limited scale, which is good for reducing interference both to and from the Bluetooth device, but obviously bad for range. Infrared operates off a beam of light that travels directly from the transmitter, which would be plugged into the television’s headphone jack (or possibly component jacks), to a receiver that sits on the headset. RF works similar to a cordless phone and shares that same range, which brings both the advantages of extended usability and the disadvantages of vastly increased interference.

Comparing The Types Of Wireless Headphones For TV

Nowadays, the radio waves are pretty well saturated. Anything that works off radio is going to pick up some sort of interference, though whether human ears can detect it are a different story altogether. Due to this interference, though, infrared is likely going to give better sound quality. Unfortunately, since it has to be able to “see” the transmitter, line of sight from the receiver is mandatory.

Home theater systems are meant to entertain guests in a movie theater-like environment. People who are purchasing the components to build these systems out are always looking for the best quality they can get. Speakers are one component that can cost alot of money if you are not careful.

But not everyone is a millionaire who can afford the top of the line for everything. Frequently, folks who live in the real world will have to make sacrifices on some of their home theater components. This means getting a second or third tier component that is not as expensive. The good news is that the speaker is the best candidate for this. Speakers are the component where good quality can be had from the second and third tier models. In order to find the best speakers for your home theater system you should do your research in order to make sure you get the right ones for you.

Some stereo speakers are only compatible with certain components. Most of the time, certain speakers are a better match for certain components. Take stock of the stereo equipment you are planning to buy and make sure you match up the speaker to the components.

Once you have your budget and your requirements set, you will want to search online for the best models that fit these parameters. Once you have a list of speakers that fit your requirements and budget you can take the next step.

The next step in your selection process is to read all the reviews you can on the speakers you’ve put on your list. These reviews will give you real world insight by people who have already purchased the speaker and are currently using it. Pay particular attention to the comments on performance, sound quality and especially the warranty.

When buying speakers, you should buy them in a set of five so that you can use them to create surround sound in your movie room. Once you’ve bought them, you will want to set them up so the speakers literally surround your guests.
